It is advised to visit this lake in summers because in winters you can experience the snowfall of about 5-8 ft. Don’t forget to take eatables and necessary trekking equipment with you, because you might not find any restaurants to eat during the trek.
CHEHNI KOTHI –
Chehni Kothi is an impressive structural tower which is located in the village known as Chehni. This tower is about 1500 years old, it is partially made up of wood and stones are laid between the wood. This tower has withstood the major earthquakes at Himachal Pradesh where around 10,000 people were killed in 1905. You can reach Chehni Kothi by trekking from Banjar to Jibhi, as it is near to Jibhi valley or we can take 45 mins to drive from Gushaini.
CHHOIE WATERFALL (My Personal Favorite Places To Visit in Tirthan Valley)–
Tirthan Valley has got many waterfalls but out of this the most famous is the Sairopa waterfall which is popularly known as Chhoie waterfall. It usually takes 45 minutes to reach by foot from the main road. This waterfall is considered to be sacred and most people visit to worship; the waterfall is hidden in between the mountains & the view is simply breath-taking.
JIBHI WATERFALL –
Jibhi is one of the stunning villages with cosy riverside cottage which is located on about 8 km away from the Banjar town towards Jalori Pass. The mountains surrounding the Jibhi are lush green pine and it is around 1 km from Great Himalayan Nation park. The waterfalls of Jibhi is hidden by the mountains and it can not be viewed from the roadside. The waterfall is about 1km away from Jibhi and the beauty of this waterfall is simply magical. The water is so clean, just like the mirror.
Best Time to Visit Tirthan Valley –
Tirthan has got pleasant weather throughout the year, there is a presence of cool breeze due to the flowing of the river. However, it is recommended to visit during the spring season from March to May. You can see the orchards loaded with apples and the beauty of the valley is mesmerizing.
In winters, the temperature falls below the freezing point and snowfall is expected. Moreover, winters are too cold and there is a chance of vulnerability towards wildlife interference. During the snowfall, wild animals like leopards or bears descend towards the valley in search of food. So it is recommended to avoid camping especially during the winters & you need to be extremely careful while walking in the woods.

HOW TO REACH TIRTHAN VALLEY? –
The easiest way to travel to Tirthan Valley is to reach Aut tunnel, which is 40kms from Mandi From Delhi-Manali route. Don’t enter the Jawahar tunnel at Aut rather continue on the right of the road which takes you to the Banjar Valley, However, the distance between Delhi –Tirthan Valley is 511 km. There are almost three ways, which you can choose to travel to Tirthan from Delhi –
- By Air – The nearest airport to Tirthan is Buntar which is 50kms away, so you need to book a cab or travel by bus to reach Tirthan. Moreover, airport connectivity is quite limited as you might get many interruptions and weather fluctuations in Kullu.
- By Train – There are no direct trains to reach Tirthan, you need to take a train from Delhi to Chandigarh. Many trains run in between Chandigarh to Delhi, after that you need to take a cab till Mandi. You have another alternate way, you can take a train till Joginder Nagar Station which is around 120kms away from Tirthan Valley.
- By Bus– The best and easiest way to reach Tirthan Valley is a bus, there are many private buses which run in between Delhi to Manali every day. These buses will make you reach Aut around 6-7 AM in the morning, from Aut you can take a cab to Tirthan.
